Affiliate Project XYZ or whatever-6 Figure Income for working a few hours per day? Affiliates that are making $50,000.00 a month? Don't make me Laugh....
I winced when I read anything like this, and click off the page.
Since I first found out about people making money online, I wanted to know how to do it myself.
For personal reasons (that I won’t go into here) I needed to work from home and obtain a decent income whilst doing so.
I spend 1000's of hours surfing and I'm ashamed to say a good pile cash on useless guides and programs.
I joined forums and groups and quickly after reading of their experiences decided that the majority of these e-books, programs and tutorial were nothing but a scam.
I settled down to plod around, making a lot of sites and going via the tried and tested 'Work Horse' method.
In the end, I was making about $300 a month. After making virtually nothing for the first 6 months!!! When I saw the latest affiliate secrets program appear, I thought 'Here we go again'. Another get rich quick scheme.
I have to say I ignored it for some time...but then I started to hear whispers, all over the net saying how great it was. Blah blah, I still ignored it.
I am a member of a particularly harsh, clued up Affiliate Forum.
(They are straight talkers! They review and report harshly on every single scam and new program on the net.
I was grinning when I saw the headline 'New Affiliate project program reviewed'. At last, I thought some one will pull it to pieces and save all the money and cash hungry affiliates wasting their time! I scrolled down till I found a favorite forum poster of mine, he is a cutting, an SEO expert, sharp, harsh and pulls every 'Get rich Quick Scheme' that I've ever seen on the net to shreds. Boy did I get a shock!!! Here are some real posts from this harsh clued up forum: Geez, this guy knows his stuff! Damn-if everyone reads this info-I'm outta business.

I agreed with him but then I forgot a few things. a) 90% of the people that buy it won't do a thing with it b) Of the remaining 10%, about 1% will implement it effectively So I hope I don't need to worry.
Damn, can't believe he is selling this info so cheap! This is only one post out of 50-singing it's praises-Affiliate Scheme ABC this and that-wow, blown away etc. all over the forum! Took the wind right out of my jaded sales.
I thought ok-you know what...lets go see. I read it all carefully, then the clincher was spotting the money back guarantee if not satisfied plus it was quite cheap-so I thought...hmm why not. So tentatively, I bought Affiliate the product to test.
I thought it would just be an interesting experiment that I could report back on the forum about. I really didn't expect very much to come of my purchase.
Now I also run my own work from home forum and we have a vibrant community and all help each other with tips and knowledge on how to earn from home.
I almost felt it my duty to try this out so I could post about 'What a con it was' I bought this particular un-named product, (let just nickname it Abc for the purposes of this article), downloaded it and was so disinterested in reading it, I forgot about it for a few days.
I really hadn't much faith in it at all.
Eventually I got round to reading it-Boy was I mad! Who was this guy anyway? Who was he to tell me that EVERYTHING I had already learn't about affiliate marketing through damn hard work...was wrong! I had to re-learn everything. Yes the SEO advice we all get about backlinks, relevant link exchanges etc. is all still very valid however it was interesting to read what this particular 'white hat' internet Guru had to say. I would have deleted Affiliate (un-named test product) right then and there except...on reading on a little...I got butterflies.
Yep, this guy had a lot to say that suddenly made sense. I tried not to but became as excited as a kid on Christmas morning.
Could this be for real? Was (ABC) the holy grail of marketing that I had searched for, for so long? Nah couldn't possibly be. I tried to ignore it, but if just to prove to the butterflies that they were wrong...I put the info into practice. After all, I couldn't proclaim it a scam in all honesty unless I tried it right? It's not a throw up a website in 5 minutes thing, but it was fast I followed every step to the letter (So I could crow after that I had tested APX and it didn't work) Took me about 6 hours. Now one demand in the Program that put my back up was that is stated categorically-you must use ppc once you make you master site. Well I really wasn't keen to go down that road, I tried that when I first started...lost a lot of money.
So I sneakily signed up to a ppc that gave you $50 free. So Apart from the cost of the program, and $8 dollar domain and 6 hours-it had cost me nothing to try it but time. I got it all set up as per the instructions of 'the internet guru and had planned to market it a little, but unfortunately I had to go away and attend to a family matter for a few days.
I quite forgot about the whole thing till I got home, I can only say now that I'm bowled over by the advice and amazing tips and secrets given by the un-named Guru, I'm not going to post fake looking stats, or make you jealous by giving you the actual figures involved.
(I never believed these anyway when I saw these 'Actual Screen Shots' did you?) The Experiment. You don’t have to believe one word that I am saying here-I want you to go and see for yourself with your own eyes.
I deliberately threw up a fast unattractive looking blog. Don't judge my web building skills on this please. www.projectxscam.com Within 48 hrs I was No.1 on Google for my search terms. Now this I will show you, you can check this fact yourself online right here at an independent web stats site HERE- http://www.seomoz.org/tools/page-strength.php. Just enter my test subject url. Now-trust me, Im no wizard with SEO, or anything else as a rule. I have never managed to get a no1 spot on google. It just shows you-if you know what your doing it can be done, cost $8 on a domain, marketing and promotion cost to achieve this 0. So learn a little for yourself before you go spending x amount on website promotion! Now, I'm not able to disclose what's in this report, or it's name, I wont even give you a link to it, that’s not the point of the article. What I can tell you is this: I didn't do much on promotion, I didn't spam any one or send out any e-mails at all. This cost me $8.00 for a domain only! Having now tested 'This internet Guru's Advice' I have to say, forget everything else you know, or think you know about on-line marketing-It's all a lie.
I hope Mr. Guru's advice is available for a good long time but suspect that the writer of it will be given suitcases full of money to disappear and join the witness protection program before someone puts a price on his head:) If it's still available out there-I'm sure you will find it, if you look. I felt like writing this article to tell everyone a few things that I have realized lately-SEO is important, but slow and time consuming (normally) All (almost 99%) of 'Get Rich Quick' programs available for sale are a waste of money and tell you nothing you couldn't have easily googled yourself. Be extremely careful what you spend your money on, when it comes to internet marketing advice and webmaster tools. 90% of them are useless-the other 9% help a little.
Don't give up searching for the 1% that will make all the difference. They do exist-there just really hard to find. Always question every bit of marketing advice you find-no matter where it came from. I don't care that they made a million with their system; do you really think most of them are actually going to tell you how they did it? They will throw you a few tips and leave out all the goodies as a rule, making their product a waste of your money.

New User Interface for Google Affiliate Network
This morning the following note appeared in my Inbox from the Google Affiliate Network:
“Google Affiliate Network, formerly DoubleClick Performics, is pleased to unveil a refreshed ConnectCommerce user interface. We have made improvements to overall navigation and usability and have updated colors and styles to reflect the new Google Affiliate Network brand. This update should leave the interface simpler to understand and navigate.”
So, I checked it out and they were right, the new interface is a decided improvement over the previous iteration. Here’s a screen capture from a search result page.
(Note: I was searching for highest 7 Day EPC’s and found it interesting that 5 of the top 10 were

How To Cloak Your Affiliate link
How To Hide ("Cloak") Your Affiliate Links And Make More Sales Like The Super Affiliates
It's an old axiom in sales that people love to shop and to buy stuff, but they hate to be sold. That is the whole reason behind hiding or "cloaking" your affiliate links: If prospects realize there is a conscious effort being made to sell them something (you appear as "pushy sales person), or that a commission is being paid to a sales person, their guard goes up and they are less likely to buy.
Solving The Link Theft Problem
Getting fewer sales overall from prospects because they became defensive and skeptical as a result of obvious sales tactics is one thing, but in the affiliate marketing world, there's even more reasons to hide your affiliate links: LINK THEFT.
Suppose someone clicks through your affiliate link and discovers a product for the very first time as a result of your referral or recommendation. When they land on the product sales page and they like it and want to buy it, if they sign up for an affiliate account, clear their cookies, and replace your affiliate ID with their affiliate ID and then buy the product they effectively order through THEIR affiliate link and they get the commission for the sale instead of you.
If you're a long time internet marketer then you might have heard of this before. If you are new to this game then you might be freaking out right now thinking that people will be stealing your commissions.
It Pays To Be An Affiliate Selling and Fitness and Weight Loss Information!
Relax my friend! There's good news! You can prevent a lot of this link theft by hiding, cloaking or redirecting your links. Even better news is that in our niche - fitness and weight loss - link theft is rare because most weight loss consumers have no idea they are being sold and that a commission is being paid.
In the "make money on the internet" sector, on the other hand, link theft is absolutely rampant because all internet marketers know how to order through their own affiliate link and that is faster and easier to do through this system.
Although link theft in the health and fitness sector is not a huge problem, I still recommend that you hide your links for other reasons as well. For one thing, the affiliate links for the Burn The Fat Inner Circle are ugly and have no sales value.

Use Domain Names To Protect Your Links, Increase Click Through Rates and Boost Your Sales!
The difference in click throughs of a good URL with sales value and a bad URL with No sales value can be astronomical. Split test it yourseld in your Google Adwords and web or e-zine ads if you don't believe me.
By the way, that reminds me, with the "Google Slap: and changes in google landing page policies, I'm not sure what google's policies are on using forwarded or masked URL's in their ads. Here's Exactly How To Hide ("Cloak") Your Affiliate Links
Okay, so now you know WHY you should hide your links, now let's get down to the HOW TO do it part...
Method 1: Hide webpage links in your HTML using a different display and destination link
The lowest level of hiding your links is simply to use your unique affiliate link as the destination link and the actual URL you want the potential customer to see as the display link in your HTML. This requires you that you know a little HTML of course and you realize that display and destination are not the same.
If you need help with HTML, go to the bookstore and buy "HTML for Dummies" or "HTML for the world wide web," or you can find numerous free HTML primers online such as http://www.htmlprimer.com/
For example. If your affiliate ID is 'expert' your affiliate link to send people to the main page of the Inner Circle is:

Your goal is to hide this obvious sales-promoting link (Did I mention these affiliae links are super long and super ugly too?). If you've been leaving your affiliate links raw, exposed and naked for all the world to see, well.....ooops! But no worries. That's why I'm here to help teach you the tricks of the Burn The Fat Inner Circle super affiliates so can improve your marketing in the future.
When you are putting a link on a web page, always hide the affiliate link in your HTML and show the destination URL as http://www.burnthefatinnercircle.com/ (or your own custom redirect link).

This HTML will display http://www.burnthefatinnercircle.com/ but send people through your affiliate link (be sure to replace the 'expert' with your very own unique affiliate ID that you recieved when you signed up for this affiliate program. For more information on formatiing links Click Here.
Method 2: Purchase a domain name from Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com/ ) for the sole purpose of cloaking your affiliate link.
There are more domain name registrars out there than you can count, but if you register your domains with a company that offers free forwarding service with URL masking, then by all means use it. I use http://www.godaddy.com/ for many of my domains because it's only about 9 bucks per domain to register and that includes free forwarding and masking!
All you need to do is register a domain and keep in mind how important the name you choose is to your click throughs. Your choice of domain name alone can give you an unfair "Super Affiliate" advantage.
Then log into your account and click "domain forwarding." Type in your affiliate hoplink as the domain to forward to. Then click on "mask domain" and enter the display URL to match your new chosen domain name.
The example given above, http://www.burnthefat-innercircle.com/ is a Go Daddy registered domain name, so you can see this in action. This domain name is owned by Kyle Battis, the site manager at Burn The Fat Inner Circle. Kyle is a savvy market and and he knows that it's best to hide affiliate links, especially when you work in the internet marketing sector as he does.
Please note: burn the fat is a registered trademark and you cannot use "burn the fat" or "burn the fat feed the muscle" in a domain name without my permission first (I gave Kyle permission). You also cannot EVER use these trademarks in a domain name that promotes other products. This is important! If you use my trademarks to promote another product you WILL recieve a cease and desist, or a DMCA takedown notice from our lawyers.
Method 3: Purchase Link Cloaking Software
There are more link cloaking software programs out there than I can even keep track of anymore. All you need to do is search Google for things like "link cloaking," "link cloaker," "link cloaking software," and so on and you will find many to choose from.
Here are some that were recommended to me or which are currently being used by Burn The Fat Affiliates:

I have not used covert affiliate myself (yet) but I'm mentioning this one first because I know it is being used currently by Burn The Fat Affiliates and it is quite slick and does more than just hide your links. I also know it is used by A-list internet marketing gurus like Mark Joyner.
This is software that sets an affiliate cookie for you then re-directs the visitor to any page you specifiy. This is a sweet tool because if you have a website and you are publishing my articles, you can actually drop your cookie on the vistor's machine before they even hit the fat sales page! I've been told this works well, and most people will never know ther are going through an affiliate link.
Here are some others to look into, but I cannot vouch for all of them-there were either sent to me by affiliates who are using them or I found them in recommended product lists from respected internet marketers.

Method 4: Use third party link or "link shrinkers"

What you see above are examples of "links that have been shrunk!"
There are numerous 3rd party services you can use to hide your affiliate link and shorten it at the same time. I have used this service in the past with success and it is especially useful in e-mail marketing because it is fast and easy. Click on that link above to see it in action - it will take you to BurnTheFat.com through a clickbank hoplink.
Here are a few examples:

Just a warning about using third party link shrinking services. I would recommend these for e-mail marketing as a last resort, but getting your own domain then forwarding and masking is the ideal solution. Don't be an el-cheapo! It costs nine lousy bucks to get a domain. Alternately, purchase a quality a quality link cloaking service or software application. Many of these, like http://www.adtrackz.com/ offer cloaking along with tracking so you can kill two birds with one stone (tracking will be the subeject of another lesson).
The trouble with any free 3rd party service is these sites come and go and if the go, your link could go witht hem if they shut down. Also, some of these sites have been temporarily shut down because spammers have abused these services, so be aware that you have no control over the shrunk link in the long term. I would not recommend using these for any permanant links such as embedding them in PDF's or placing them on web pages.
I shrunk a link once for an affiliate product that I was promoting and sent out in an e-mail to about 150,000 people. The link did not work and believe me, it was painful to watch. This only happened to me once, after using one of these services countless times without a hitch, but once was enough-it's always best to be in control of your links.
Method 5: Domain Forwarding Services Like ZONE EDIT
I learned about Zone Edit (http://www.zoneedit.com/) from Perry Marshall, the google ad words expert. This is a 3rd party service that simply forwards a URL to another website. Here's an example of Zone Edit in action:

This is a simple forward or redirect from one domain name to another-nothing fancy-no masking of the URL, just forwarding from one URL to another. In this exampl, I'm not using a hoplink, but you can redirect from a domain of your choice to your affiliate link. Then simply use the domain you chose to promote the product instead of your exposed affiliate link. This doesn't mask the end of the affiliate link once they get to the sales page, but it is a useful tool to know about.
Method 6: Put Your Geeky Programmer To Work!
If you have a good webmaster with programming skills, then you can simply have him or her create a custom script that performs some of the functions listed above, now that you know what to do and look for.
In Conclusion: Be a Good Affiliate With Integrity...Because What Comes Around Goes Around
There you have it. You are now a stealthy link-cloaking expert and you know all the tricks to increase your clicks and protect your links as much as possible.

If you're a long time internet marketer then you might have heard of this before. If you are new to this game then you might be freaking out right now thinking that people will be stealing your commissions.

Relax my friend! There's good news! You can prevent a lot of this link theft by hiding, cloaking or redirecting your links. Even better news is that in our niche - fitness and weight loss - link theft is rare because most weight loss consumers have no idea they are being sold and that a commission is being paid.

Here's Exactly How To Hide ("Cloak") Your Affiliate Links
Okay, so now you know WHY you should hide your links, now let's get down to the HOW TO do it part...
Method 1: Hide webpage links in your HTML using a different display and destination link
The lowest level of hiding your links is simply to use your unique affiliate link as the destination link and the actual URL you want the potential customer to see as the display link in your HTML. This requires you that you know a little HTML of course and you realize that display and destination are not the same.
If you need help with HTML, go to the bookstore and buy "HTML for Dummies" or "HTML for the world wide web," or you can find numerous free HTML primers online such as http://www.htmlprimer.com/
For example. If your affiliate ID is 'expert' your affiliate link to send people to the main page of the Inner Circle is:

Your goal is to hide this obvious sales-promoting link (Did I mention these affiliae links are super long and super ugly too?). If you've been leaving your affiliate links raw, exposed and naked for all the world to see, well.....ooops! But no worries. When you are putting a link on a web page, always hide the affiliate link in your HTML and show the destination URL as http://www.burnthefatinnercircle.com/ (or your own custom redirect link).

Method 2: Purchase a domain name from Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com/ ) for the sole purpose of cloaking your affiliate link.
There are more domain name registrars out there than you can count, but if you register your domains with a company that offers free forwarding service with URL masking, then by all means use it. I use http://www.godaddy.com/ for many of my domains because it's only about 9 bucks per domain to register and that includes free forwarding and masking!
All you need to do is register a domain and keep in mind how important the name you choose is to your click throughs. Your choice of domain name alone can give you an unfair "Super Affiliate" advantage.
Then log into your account and click "domain forwarding." Type in your affiliate hoplink as the domain to forward to. Then click on "mask domain" and enter the display URL to match your new chosen domain name.
The example given above, http://www.burnthefat-innercircle.com/ is a Go Daddy registered domain name, so you can see this in action. This domain name is owned by Kyle Battis, the site manager at Burn The Fat Inner Circle. Kyle is a savvy market and and he knows that it's best to hide affiliate links, especially when you work in the internet marketing sector as he does.
Please note: burn the fat is a registered trademark and you cannot use "burn the fat" or "burn the fat feed the muscle" in a domain name without my permission first (I gave Kyle permission). You also cannot EVER use these trademarks in a domain name that promotes other products. This is important! If you use my trademarks to promote another product you WILL recieve a cease and desist, or a DMCA takedown notice from our lawyers.
Method 3: Purchase Link Cloaking Software
There are more link cloaking software programs out there than I can even keep track of anymore. All you need to do is search Google for things like "link cloaking," "link cloaker," "link cloaking software," and so on and you will find many to choose from.
Here are some that were recommended to me or which are currently being used by Burn The Fat Affiliates:

I have not used covert affiliate myself (yet) but I'm mentioning this one first because I know it is being used currently by Burn The Fat Affiliates and it is quite slick and does more than just hide your links. I also know it is used by A-list internet marketing gurus like Mark Joyner.
This is software that sets an affiliate cookie for you then re-directs the visitor to any page you specifiy. This is a sweet tool because if you have a website and you are publishing my articles, you can actually drop your cookie on the vistor's machine before they even hit the fat sales page! I've been told this works well, and most people will never know ther are going through an affiliate link.
Here are some others to look into, but I cannot vouch for all of them-there were either sent to me by affiliates who are using them or I found them in recommended product lists from respected internet marketers.

What you see above are examples of "links that have been shrunk!"
There are numerous 3rd party services you can use to hide your affiliate link and shorten it at the same time. I have used this service in the past with success and it is especially useful in e-mail marketing because it is fast and easy. Click on that link above to see it in action - it will take you to BurnTheFat.com through a clickbank hoplink.

Just a warning about using third party link shrinking services. I would recommend these for e-mail marketing as a last resort, but getting your own domain then forwarding and masking is the ideal solution. Don't be an el-cheapo! It costs nine lousy bucks to get a domain. Alternately, purchase a quality a quality link cloaking service or software application. Many of these, like http://www.adtrackz.com/ offer cloaking along with tracking so you can kill two birds with one stone (tracking will be the subeject of another lesson).
The trouble with any free 3rd party service is these sites come and go and if the go, your link could go witht hem if they shut down. Also, some of these sites have been temporarily shut down because spammers have abused these services, so be aware that you have no control over the shrunk link in the long term. I would not recommend using these for any permanant links such as embedding them in PDF's or placing them on web pages.

The End of Google's Affiliate Programs?
When Google launched their referral buttons, Darren over at Problogger.net raised a pretty interesting point. He speculated on whether Google’s link-up with Firefox marked the start of a range of affiliate products for publishers that Google were planning to roll out.
Now that the buttons have been around for a while, I have to say that I’d be pretty surprised if Google decided to try out any more.
I’m not aware of anyone making any serious money out of them. The ad units are great. The link units can do pretty well. The image ads not so much. And the referral buttons might buy someone a small coffee once a month... provided they have an audience which has never heard of Firefox.
The real problem with the referral buttons we were offered was that they just weren’t very competitive. There’s a whole range of different affiliate programs that we can sign up to online and the payment terms that Google was offering just didn’t beat what was out there -- a dollar for a download? One hundred dollars when someone you’ve signed up for AdSense breaks a century? You’ll probably do better sending people to some dating site or pushing books at Amazon.
The buttons don’t do any harm. But I don’t think anyone really expects them to do a great deal of good either.
The fact that we haven’t seen any additions to these programs suggests that Google has picked up the message that affiliate programs just aren’t their strong points. In fact, I don’t think AdSense has produced anything yet that beats the basic ad unit. That was a killer idea... and no one’s beaten it yet. We’ve had a few false starts when companies have brought out some attractive new products but the bottom line is that it’s still the good old AdSense ad unit that’s keeping those fat checks coming in.
That doesn’t mean that Google shouldn’t be looking for new ways to make us all a little richer. But they need to be original if they’re going to make it work, and do something that no one else has done.
Or they can just focus on rolling out new formats and adjusting the Smart Pricing so that my prices go up. I’d be happier if they just did that than offer more affiliate buttons.

Promote Affiliate Programs Through Your Own Google Adwords Campaign

Did you know that Forbes magazine has reported that pay per click ad sales are expected to increase to at least an astounding $8 billion by the year 2008? Pay per click though still unfamiliar to many, will be around for a very long time. One of the search engine giants to capture a lion's share of this market is Google through its Google Adwords service. A few ebooks like Google Cash and The Definitive Guide To Google AdWords provide basic and advance knowledge on releasing the incredible power of pay per click campaigns especially as this applies to businesses and affiliates around the world. Big businesses are still the largest group to benefit from incorporating pay per click in their advertising budgets but, home-based businesses and affiliate program promoters can benefit too if they understand how to use this tool.
Pay per click search engines provide a way for you to basically buy your way to the top of search results for any keyword you wish. Pay per click advertising works thru a bidding process, and your ads appear in the results pages of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves. With Google Adwords you bid on the keywords you want to focus your ad on. For example if someone were searching on "gourmet coffee", if you're the highest bidder for "gourmet coffee" you receive top placement for that phrase and depending on the search engine, the top 3-5 bidders for that phrase also receive placement on the first page of unpaid search results.
With Google Adwords the "ad campaign" is everything. When you sign up with Google Adwords you have unlimited campaigns at your disposal. I enjoy promoting affiliate programs and in the past I spent a lot of time deciding which keywords I would bid on to attract buyers to my affiliate programs. The only tool I use right now is Ad Word Analyzer which saves tremendously on time and gives me an overview of my keyword and/or keyword phrase as it was searched on the top two pay per click search engines Google and Overture ( now called Yahoo Search Marketing ).
Now that you've done your research and you've collected your keywords and/or keyword phrases, you'll need to open an Adwords account.
1. To do this go to https://adwords.google.com/. There is a one time sign up fee of $5 and your username and password are emailed to you.
2. Now you can log into the system and select "create a new campaign". Give your campaign a name that will also allow you to create multiple campaigns.
3. Before creating your first ad, I recommend that you print out Google's set of guidelines, ebooks such as Google Cash cover this area as well. Since most of you are probably promoting affiliate programs, it's important that you notify Google of this by simply adding "aff" at the end of your ad text.

c. In promoting your affiliate program, make sure you're linked directly to the owner's website thru your affiliate link so that you'll get the credit and the cash!
Now you can submit your ad and start tracking your campaign over the next few days. If you're not happy with your ad's performance you can make changes such as targeting other keywords or increasing your bid a little at a time. Adwords is flexible in allowing you to make changes within Google guidelines of course, to make your ad campaigns successful.
Pay per click is here to stay and it offers a high level of assurance that your ad is reaching your targeted audience. With the proper management and a clear vision, pay per click specifically Google Adwords, can provide you with well targeted and economical advertising on the internet.

Most people start off their affiliate marketing business by getting traffic from google adwords. I know, because that’s how I started. If your anything like me, you purchased Google Cash or another pay per click ebook and you set up your first campaign. Latter on after many campaigns you found out that it was a lot harder than you originally thought.
Here’s why! Pay per click advertising works well for businesses that can count on repeat business. As an affiliate you usually don’t have that luxury. Your relying on one purchase per customer and then you’ll probably never see that customer again. Will Using Google Checkout Damage Your Company Reputation?
Choosing the wrong online payment processor can drive your customers away and kill any chance of your online business succeeding. You may not even know why your business is failing.Google has developed a shopping cart/checkout system to compete with other online merchant service providers. This is a lucrative market for them and it is a service that is in high demand by online sellers.

Online sellers are often start-up's who need a way to accept credit cards but do not want to go through the headaches involved in setting up a merchant credit card account. Using an online credit card charging service is much easier. Most services allow you to create a simple buy-now link that you can place on your website. You can sign-up and start selling your product in minutes.But wait, it is not so simple.Usually when Google develops a system, they test it. They have done an excellent job with their Adwords and Adsense systems. These are well researched and the people running them are very knowledgeable.That is why I was surprised to find that Google Checkout is so poorly designed.Here is a Comparison.When you purchase through PayPal using a credit card, you have a clearly stated buyer protection policy and PayPal makes it easy to file for a refund if you do not receive your order. This is not the case with Google Checkout. Once you send a payment using Google Checkout, there is no facility to file a complaint for non-receipt. On the order page for Google Checkout, there is no mention of any buyer protection or fraud prevention. That is because there is no protection. They force you to contact the vendor and if the vendor is unwilling to ship the item you paid for, you have no other recourse than to file for a charge reversal with your credit card company. If you have filed for a reversal before, you know what a pain that can be plus you then have to cancel your card and wait for a new card to arrive.Here is a typical scenario. I purchased a DVD video set from uBid which uses Google Checkout as their payment processor. My card was charged and I received a message the next day with a USPS Priority Mail tracking number. Three weeks later I still did not have my DVD set. A check on the tracking number showed that my order was never shipped. I went to my Google account and that is when I realized there were no buyer protection options.The only option I was given was to contact uBid. I did that. Three days later they had not responded. I then went to the uBid site and tried to contact them through their web form as instructed. When I completed the form and clicked Submit, I received a big red letter message saying they did not accept Google Checkout inquiries. After some web searching, I see uBid has a history of failing to ship purchases. During my checkout from uBid using Google Checkout, I also was presented with a box asking if I wanted to receive promotional offers from uBid. I did NOT check the box, but two days later I started receiving spam anyway. I had to wonder why they bothered to ask if they planned to spam me anyway.When I realized I was not going to receive my order, now 4 weeks after I paid, I returned to Google Checkout and spent more than half an hour going through their help system trying to find out how to report a fraudulent charge(I paid but they will not ship or respond to customer service messages and that is fraud).If I had used PayPal, 2Checkout, ClickBank, or any other service, I would have had some protection and could have requested a refund. The seller is unwilling to resolve the matter and Google has no facility to report fraud or to authorize a refund.This puts the buyer in a very weak position.On a side note: Google Checkout has a number of other disadvantages for online marketers. They do not offer any type of managed affiliate program. Since Google is making the actual charge, they should also offer a managed affiliate system similar to ClickBank, but they failed to include this common feature. Any good online marketer uses affiliates. Right, they will pick the 0 is not the best option for buyers or sellers. In order to obtain this special low price package, Swreg adds an $8 charge to every shopping cart purchase. This charge is for a software backup service. Most sellers of software already offer this service for free but there is no way to remove the extra charge by the seller. That means when you try to sell your $19.95 software, the customer clicks through and they are immediately charged $27.95. The price just jumped almost 30%. The seller does not see one cent of this $8 fee. When customers need to re-download, they usually contact the seller and not Swreg so the customer paid extra for a service and the seller is the one who must provide the service, uncompensated, while Swreg pockets the $8.Some customers will remove the extra charge from the shopping cart, but most will think they are being gouged when the price shoots up and they will click the back button to find the next company offering a similar product. The end result is that the seller has generated bad will with a customer and driven away a sale.Choosing the best selling option for the seller is not always the best option for the buyer.
